⚠ SCHEMA UPDATE REQUIRED
This release requires an updated geodatabase schema to use WDM and Service Suite features. Run the new Schema Report (CrescentLink ribbon → Schema Report) to check your database and see what needs to change. Until it’s updated, CrescentLink will disable the affected features to avoid risking your data.
Please follow data management best practices and back up databases before making any schema changes.
Overview
CrescentLink for Pro Update 16 adds WDM equipment modeling and wavelength-aware tracing, a new Service Suite for managing Circuits, Services, and Leases, a Schema Report to check your database, a redesigned Search window, and an improved Distance Trace tool.
WDM
- Model WDM equipment as a Mux/Demux or an OADM, and configure its ports, channels, and wavelengths in a new Port Modeler.
- Set how an OADM handles wavelengths — Drop & Add, Drop Only, or Add Only.
- Model duplex channels, which pair two wavelengths together (one for sending, one for receiving).
- See wavelength usage at a glance, with counts on port and fiber rows and a detailed wavelength grid you can expand.
- Spot WDM configuration problems right away, with a warning on the affected row and a link to fix it.
- Tracing now follows wavelengths automatically through WDM equipment, including how each wavelength moves through an OADM.
- Trace every port on a piece of equipment at once, or trace just one wavelength.
- Let CrescentLink keep fiber capacity up to date automatically as you make changes, and use the new WDM Capacity Reconciler to track and resolve any conflicts.
- Save and reuse WDM equipment as templates, including all of its wavelength settings.
Service Suite
Circuits
- Create a Circuit from a trace, a port, or a cable strand, using a new Create Circuit window that lets you pick the span visually on the map.
- Attach Services and Leases to a circuit while you’re creating it.
- Browse, search, and filter your circuits in a new Circuits dockpane.
- Open a circuit to see its full path, along with its linked Services and Leases. Re-path a circuit without losing any of its data or links.
- Verify a circuit to confirm it’s still connected, and use Repair to automatically fix a broken one when there’s a clear path to restore.
- See and manage a location’s circuits directly from Splicepoint Manager and Cable Manager.
- Get a warning before making a network change that could affect existing circuits.
Services
- Create, browse, search, and filter services in a new Services dockpane.
- Link and unlink Circuits and Leases to a service, and see at a glance whether linked circuits are still connected.
- Create a service on the fly while creating a circuit.
Leases
- Create, browse, search, and filter leases in a new Leases dockpane.
- Lease end dates and status are calculated automatically from the term and start date.
- Link and unlink Circuits and Services to a lease.
- Create a lease on the fly while creating a circuit.
Across the Service Suite
- Attach files to Circuits, Services, and Leases.
- Export Circuits, Services, or Leases to HTML or CSV, with a simple table view or a more detailed record view.
- Required fields are enforced and read-only fields are protected, consistently across the suite.
- Add your own custom fields to Circuits, Services, and Leases — they show up automatically on every create, edit, and detail screen, using the field name (alias) and length limit you’ve set for that field in the database.
- Everything stays up to date automatically as records change, wherever they’re being viewed.
- Search works across every field, including linked records and the cable a circuit runs on.
Schema Report
- Run a new Schema Report to check your database against what WDM and the Service Suite require, with a clear pass/fail summary and a list of anything that needs fixing.
- If your schema isn’t ready, CrescentLink automatically disables the new WDM and Service Suite functionality, and turns it back on once the schema is updated.
Search
- Use a new Search window that covers Customers, Splicepoints, Cables, Circuits, Services, and Leases in one place, with filtering and search history.
Distance Trace
- The redesigned Distance Trace tool now handles loops, branches, and complex plant layouts, showing every possible landing point as a candidate.
- Walk through a candidate’s path step by step on the map.
- See every circuit, service, and lease affected by a cable, and export the results as a report.
